Mark Keam for Delegate Campaign Announces
Over $130,000 in Donations for First Quarter 2009
Vienna, VA – As required by the Virginia State Board of Elections, the Keam for Delegate campaign will file its first quarter finance disclosure report by April 15. The campaign expects to report that it has raised over $130,000 in contributions during this reporting period.
The campaign also expects to report that, during this period, it received over 500 separate individual donations, which would provide the campaign with approximately $100,000 in cash on hand as of March 31.
“I am very pleased that we have exceeded our fundraising goal for the quarter. I am grateful for the generous outpouring of support from so many people who believe in our campaign.” Keam stated, adding, “With this level of resources available in this early stage of the race, I am confident that we will run a strong and competitive grassroots campaign through June 9th.”
To begin soliciting funds toward his campaign for the House of Delegates from the 35th District, Mark Keam filed his Statement of Organization in December 2008. At around the same time, however, Keam was asked by the Sharon Bulova for Chairman Campaign to serve as an unpaid volunteer coordinator for the Hunter Mill magisterial district to run canvassing and phone banking projects leading up to the special election on February 3, 2009.
Because the Bulova campaign was such an important County-wide event for Democrats, Keam held off on raising funds for his own campaign until January 31. The estimated $130,000 to be reported later this month was therefore raised during a two-month period from January 31 to March 31, instead of the three months of the quarter.
