Mark Keam Endorsed by Six Delegates
Vienna, VA – Today, the Mark Keam for Delegate campaign announced that Keam was endorsed by the following six Democratic members of the Virginia House of Delegates: Delegate Kristen J. Amundson (District 44), Delegate Robert H. Brink (District 48), Delegate Adam P. Ebbin (District 49), Delegate David Englin (District 45), Delegate Albert Pollard (District 99), and Delegate Mark D. Sickles (District 43).
In making their choice to be the Democratic nominee for the 35th District in the June 9 primary, these House members cited Keam’s qualifications for office, the energy he has brought to his campaign, his ability to bring a fresh perspective to Richmond, and his work for Democratic candidates over two decades.
“These six leaders are highly experienced and effective legislators in the House of Delegates, and I am proud to have their support,” said Keam. “I look forward to working with each of them to move a progressive policy agenda forward in Richmond.”
“We believe Mark Keam has the qualifications to be a strong member of the House of Delegates in the tradition of Steve Shannon,” noted Delegate Amundson. “In addition, his hard work throughout this campaign makes us confident he will win the seat in November.”
Delegate Brink worked with Keam during the Obama campaign. “Mark was tireless in working to elect Barack Obama – from the earliest days of the campaign to the floor of the Denver Convention to victory last November,” stated Delegate Brink, one of Obama’s first Virginia supporters. “He’ll bring the same energy and commitment to positive change to Richmond.”
“Through both his words and deeds, Mark Keam has shown a commitment to equal treatment for all Virginians. His will be a strong voice in the General Assembly,” said Delegate Ebbin.
“Mark is a true grassroots leader who has been a tireless advocate for Democratic candidates and causes,” said Delegate Englin. “I am confident he will win this November and will be the kind of strong, effective leader we need fighting for progress in Richmond.”
Delegate Pollard said, “The forward looking tone of Mark’s campaign is proof positive that he can reach across the aisle to make Virginia a better place. Furthermore, Mark’s ties in the net roots, grass roots and diverse communities will bring a much needed – and fresh – perspective to Richmond.”
In 1995, when Delegate Sickles was Chairman of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee, he met Keam for the first time. Delegate Sickles stated, “It has been a pleasure to work with Mark over the years to broaden the Party and to observe his success as a lawyer to key leaders on Capitol Hill. We need his talent in Richmond.”
